where are we now?

After our arrival in Tbilisi by night train from Yerevan on Tuesday morning, we spent a few days in and around Tbilisi: visiting the lovely and much changed city, meeting my friends & former colleagues, paying tribute to the old capital and current spiritual center of Georgia, Mtskheta, and to Stalin in Gori.

Yesterday we came to Sighnaghi (I leave it up to you to try to pronounce this) in the eastern part of Georgia to taste the lovely wine from the Kakheti region and just relax in this newly refurbished town on the hill, reminding us of Tuscany villages. Tomorrow we are off to Tbilisi again and then probably by night train to Western Georgia, where we hope to finally find some good, dry weather...

Yes, of course May is the wettest month in the region, but still... After all, we LOVE hiking & don't want to leave the Caucasus without having done any of it!
